Youngsville, Louisiana was settled by French Acadian farmers in the early 19th century, and even today is rural and known for its sugar farms. And as the home of one of Lafayette Parish’s oldest Catholic churches, St. Anne’s, established in 1859. Which also led to the oldest street in town, Church Street. Originally named "Royville," after founders George and Desire Roy, father and son, the name was later changed to at the request of the postal service. The community incorporated the community as the Village of Youngsville in 1908, and created a system of local government. Youngsville remained a village until 1983, at which point it was declared a town - and, through continued, consistent growth, was declared a city in 2006. Despite its growth, Youngsville stays close to its long-time culture and traditions.
